High Definition
Many people have recently purchased a high definition, HD, ready TV. More channels are switching over to high definition TV. You will soon be able to enjoy nearly all of your favourite programmes in high definition. HD TV produces a much sharper picture but unless you are receiving an HD signal you will not be able to utilise the brilliant picture quality available on an HD ready TV.
HD TV is available to everybody without any need for a subscription through Freesat. At the moment only the BBC is broadcasting in HD on Freesat but ITV, Channel 4 and Five TV are all planning to launch an HD service shortly.
You can also receive HD TV through Sky and Virgin media. Currently Sky provides more HD channels than Freesat, however, Sky requires a monthly subscription to be received.
